I have been lurking on the web for several months now, reading and researching other wineries’ websites and various wine blogs. I am starting to get a foothold on this “social media”. On the wine blog drinkwhatyoulike.com the question was pondered Are Virginia Wineries Getting It- Social Media that is….Even though we are a Colorado Vineyard, we needed to ask the question. I confess I had started a FB fan page and posted some announcements but was struggling, just how do I leverage this? Now I am beginning to get it. We must work together with local businesses to leverage the opportunities available through social networking. My pledge: I will engage our customers, wine bloggers and journalists, my fellow Colorado wineries and related businesses in a dynamic, thought-provoking way. Brooke– Mesa Park Vineyards

Brooke, I just subscribed to your blog and read this article. You are doing the first steps in Social Media. I have been doing Social Media for almost 2 years now. Certified by HubSpot , the Industry Leader in Inbound Marketing. Social Media is the new way to market and for Colorado Wineries it is imperative. It is a snowball effect that everyone can take advantage of. Not everyone does it right but they are trying and I have to give Kudos. Facebook and Twitter are great avenues to the word out but Blogging by far is the important. Blogs will get indexed before websites do. The reason is the content is always changing. Set up a google alert on the winery name. Write a blog and then a few days later you will see that article pop up. When you search on your winery name in Google, your blog articles, facebook posts and twitter feeds will come up generally before the site because the content is always changing.
Thanks for getting out there and let me know if I can help.
